Subject: Application for a national visa for vocational training: Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung, [Company GmbH], [City]

Dear Sir or Madam,

I will start an Ausbildung as an IT specialist for application development (Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung) at [Company GmbH] in [City] on [date]. The training contract is signed and registered with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) [region] (both attached).

Why this field: I have programmed since school, where I built a reservation app for our library with two classmates, and I have worked for six months setting up computers and networks for small offices in Jaipur. I want to learn software development properly, in a company and at a vocational school, rather than only on my own.

How I found the company: I searched the Ausbildung vacancies on the Federal Employment Agency’s job board, applied to [number] companies with my CV and cover letter in German, and had two online interviews with [Company GmbH] in [month]. They develop software for logistics firms, which interests me because I have seen at first hand how badly small businesses plan deliveries.

My prospects: after the three-year training and the IHK examination I hope to stay with the company as a developer and later specialise in logistics software. I have reached German B1 (Goethe-Zertifikat attached) and will continue to B2 during the training.

Thank you for considering my application.

Yours faithfully,Rahul Verma

Make it your own

  • The missions ask for three things: why you want to train in this field, how you found your company or school, and what career prospects you hope for.
  • English or German; keep it consistent with your contract and your interview.
  • It is separate from the cover letter you sent the company.
  • Do not copy it: replace every detail with your own and write it in your own words.
