For Indians in India and in Germany · free
Plan your move to Germany without paying a consultant.
Ambiful Abroad is a free planner for Indians heading to Germany, or already living here: to study at a German university, train in an Ausbildung, or look for a job with the Opportunity Card. It tells you which route you actually qualify for, what it really costs, what to prepare, and when.
Built for students in India, and the parents funding them, who would rather understand the process than hand it to an agent. If you have a Class 12 or a Bachelor's degree and are looking at a German public university in 2026 or later, this is for you.
Germany first. More countries are coming, and you can tell us which one.
No account needed to start: your plan stays on your phone until you sign in. Free on iPhone and Android.

Built for India, from the APS certificate to the interview at your German mission.
Every figure carries its source and the date it was checked, and the sources are re-read every week.
No university commissions, ever.
How it works
From “can I go?” to the plane, in four steps.
The app works out your route, your cost and a dated plan from the official rules, then keeps you on it.
Step 1
Answer a few questions
Your qualification, marks, languages, subject, budget and when you want to start. No account needed.
Step 2
See your route and the real cost
Which way into a German university is open to you, and the first-year cash in rupees, line by line with sources.
Step 3
Follow a plan dated backwards
Every step from APS to the visa, each with a date counted back from the official deadlines, with reminders.
Step 4
Keep it all in one place
Documents, letters, applications and deadlines. Uploads tick off steps; parents can follow along with a read-only link.

What you get
Everything the consultant would have done, on your own phone.
Each part answers one question you would otherwise pay to have answered. Every figure the app shows comes from a public rule it can point you to.
Pathway check
Bachelor, Master, PhD or Ausbildung: whether your Indian qualification gets you direct entry, needs a Studienkolleg year, or needs something else first. Or, with a degree or vocational training, whether the Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) lets you go and look for a job. Each rule with its official source.
True first-year cost
Blocked account, uni-assist, APS, visa, insurance, rent by city, semester contribution, in rupees at a rate you can change. For an Ausbildung, the German missions ask for no blocked account: the training pay is your living money. No number without a source and a date it was last checked.
Dated document checklist
Every step in the order you need it, each with a date to have it by, counted back from the official deadlines, ticked off as you go.
Programme shortlist
Open DAAD’s programme database from the app, find the programmes that fit, and keep each one on your shortlist with its own deadline and where the application stands.
Letter and CV coach
Templates for the motivation letter, CV and recommendation request that follow the advice on DAAD’s public guidance pages (linked as the source), then AI feedback on your wording. It suggests language only; it never scores you or predicts whether you will get in.
Document vault and reminders
Keep your certificates in one private place. Uploading them ticks off the matching checklist steps, and you get a reminder before each date on your checklist and two months before any document expires.
Pro pass
Paid tools for the heavy lifting, when you want them.
Everything above stays free. One in-app purchase unlocks all of them for six months, with the price shown before you pay. It does not renew and nothing is charged again.
- Pro
Funding and help in Germany
Already living in Germany: whether your residence status can get BAföG for a degree or BAB for an Ausbildung (from the law’s conditions), part-time Ausbildung for parents, and the official finders for your foreigners’ authority, German courses and recognition advice, plus vacancies in your city.
- Pro
Ausbildung finder
For paid vocational training: 18 occupations from nursing to IT and mechatronics with their length, average training pay (BIBB) and the German level the visa needs, the Federal Employment Agency’s live vacancies for each, a review of your cover letter (Anschreiben), and tracking of every company you apply to.
- Pro
Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte)
For jobs in Germany: your points under the Residence Act and where more come from, how Germany rates your degree (anabin, ZAB), the money to show for your stay, what the card allows, how to apply, and the Blue Card or skilled-worker permit once you have an offer.
- Pro
Life after graduating
What German law offers once you finish: the 18-month job-search permit, the EU Blue Card with this year’s salary thresholds or a skilled-worker permit, and your earliest permanent residence, dated from your graduation, with the German level each route needs.
- Pro
uni-assist planner
A submit-by date for every uni-assist application (uni-assist’s own at-least-8-weeks advice), the VPD steps, your semester’s handling fees, and uni-assist’s document list for India checked against your vault.
- Pro
German plan
The German level your route needs (from the German missions, universities and Studienkollegs), the courses at your nearest Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan with their real lengths and prices, the exam, whether it fits before your deadline, and free official material to learn alongside.
- Pro
Family view
A read-only link for your parents: your route, key dates, progress, the money needed and your applications, updated as you plan. They never see your documents, marks or letters, and you can switch the link off any time.
- Pro
Recommendation letters
Track who you asked for a letter of recommendation and for which applications, see when each letter is needed from your deadlines, and draft a polite request or reminder email. The letter itself stays your referee’s own.
- Pro
APS assistant
Your APS procedure, whether you need the new dMAT test first, the document list checked against your vault, how to courier it, and what delays or stops it — from APS India’s own rules.
- Pro
Eligibility check per programme
Your marks converted to the German grade, then each programme on your shortlist next to what you have: intake, English score, German level and grade, from what you copy off the programme’s own page, with its academic requirement quoted back. Paste the page’s text and the app pulls what it states into your shortlist, each value with the words it came from, for you to check before saving.
- Pro
Where to find scholarships
DAAD’s scholarship database opened with India and your level already set, plus well-known programmes for international students — the Deutschlandstipendium and political foundations — with their conditions from each funder’s own page.
- Pro
Letters tailored to each programme
Your motivation letter reworked for a programme from what you paste off its own page, keeping your facts and your voice, with a list of what to look up before you send it.
- Pro
Document pack check
Before you apply and before your visa appointment, a check that every document your route needs is uploaded and in date on the day it is needed, then one tap shares the whole pack, named and in order, to your email or Drive for the portal upload.
- Pro
Visa appointment by mission
Which German mission in India handles your visa, from the state you live in, and how the online application, booking and interview work — with your target date and links to the document check and interview practice.
- Pro
Visa interview practice
Practice questions on what visa interviews usually cover — your programme, why Germany, your funding and your plans — with written feedback on how clearly and consistently you answered.
- Pro
Your university pack
Once a university admits you: its programme page and what to find on its own site — housing, the international office, the semester contribution — with DAAD’s dormitory finder and how to avoid rental scams.
- Pro
After-arrival pack
Your first weeks in Germany dated from the day you move in: registering your address, bank account, enrolment, residence permit, broadcasting fee, tax ID and student-job rules.
How we make money
You pay us, or nobody does. Never a university.
An optional 6-month Pro pass you buy inside the app, at a price you see before paying, and a small number of partners (blocked-account providers, insurers, language schools) who are named as partners wherever they appear.
We never take commissions from universities and we never recommend a university because it pays us.
Made for the Germany route
It knows the parts that only apply to Germany.
Not a generic study-abroad checklist. The rules that trip up Indian applicants are built in, each with the page it came from.
APS
The APS certificate, and where it sits in the order of things before your visa appointment.
uni-assist and VPD
Which universities want a uni-assist VPD and which take applications directly.
Blocked account
What it is for, how it is opened, and when it has to be funded for the visa.
Studienkolleg vs direct entry
Whether your Class 12 or Bachelor’s gets direct entry or needs the foundation year first.
Part-time work rules
What a student visa lets you work alongside your studies, so your budget is honest.
Already in Germany?
Start an Ausbildung or a degree from here.
Came as a spouse, a student or to look for work? Tell the app your residence status and it plans from where you are: no visa steps, no blocked account.
Your permit
Every residence permit allows work unless a law restricts it, and an in-company Ausbildung counts as work. Students and Opportunity Card holders need the training permit first. The app tells you which applies to you.
Part-time Ausbildung
Any Ausbildung can be agreed in part-time, with up to half the hours, for parents and anyone caring for someone.
Funding
Whether your status can get BAföG for a degree or the vocational training allowance (BAB) for an Ausbildung, from the conditions in the law.
Free help near you
Careers advice at the employment agency, your foreigners’ authority, German courses and recognition advice, from the official finders.
